Description:
Small passerine bird, slightly smaller but chubbier than House sparrow. Bird is usually seen in small groups; from far away they may resemble sparrows - they are mainly drab in colours, earthy cream-and-brown stripes, with a bit of yellow on wing covers. They sport blackish faces and bright red spot on fronts.
Habitat:
Here, observed on edges of a coniferous forest and in backyards of some houses at the periphery of the town. Slopes of Caucasus, about 2000 m of altitude.
