Semi-looper
Trigonodes hyppasia
15.4562, 119.921
Field Notes
Description:
Erebidae; Erebinae; Ophiusini; Trigonodes; Trigonodes hyppasia (Cramer, 1779). The first time I saw this species, I immediately thought of Chalciope mygdon which I had encountered just a few months earlier. Obviously, when I was out taking photographs, I did not have a picture of C. mygdon with me, and was working only from memory. I jotted down in my little notebook "Genus Chalciope?" This was, of course quite wrong, but it cannot be denied that there are some general similarities.
Habitat:
This moth was spotted in a rice field which had recently been harvested and was now being used as a vegetable plot. It was hiding in amongst some Maize (Zea mays).
