Field Notes

Description:

There were 3 garter snakes under one wood board (they like to seek shelter under them). They were all very young and I had to measure, mark and weight them as part of my job to learn more about the reptile and amphibian population of this area. Each one was docile and mellow and waited patiently for me to work with each one.

Habitat:

Mixed grass, shrub and woodlands.

Notes:

Very common snake in North America.
