A pleasure... and I learned a lot too. We have a gull which looks almost identical so I had to see how much of a difference there really is.
Being immature must be why I was having a hard time identifying it. Thanks!
This is an immature gull. They are also known to hybridize with a close relative from Alaska. ( Glaucous-winged Gull )
