Description:

A. uva-ursi is small groundcover shrub (5-30 cm high). Has shiny, evergreen leaves, small urn-shaped, white and pink flowers arranged in clusters. Fruit is bright red or pink drupe.

Habitat:

This plant grows on higher altitude in mountains, this one is found on 1600 m asl, on rocky, sunny meadow, Nature park Velebit

Notes:

Bearberry has historically been used for medicinal purposes. It contains the glycoside arbutin, which has antimicrobial properties and acts as a mild diuretic. It has been used for urinary tract complaints, including cystitis and urolithiasis.
