Long Pink-bell

A bush about 1 m high with long upright smooth branches. Leaves were few and reduced along upper parts of the stems. The lower leaves were broader and triangular with wavy and spiky edges (resembled miniature holly leaves). A striking feature of this plant were the young flower stalks that were long, red and covered with gland-tipped hairs. Some of these stalks held delicate long-petaled four-leaved mauve flowers with dark centres.
