Field Notes

Description:

I found this snail shell attached to a tree in a forest outside of Sighisoara, Romania. It was attached to the tree by web and I didn't want to touch it for fear of breaking the web.

Habitat:

Wooded area

Notes:

At first I thought this was a snail but was surprised to see a thick web attaching it to the tree. There did not appear to be any movement in or around the shell. I was just really curious as to how it got there.

spiders are very fast in encapsulating everything they see with their webs. I am sure though the snail will be able to survive,
