Description:

The name 'large' skipper is somewhat misleading as you can see these butterflies are not much wider than an ear of corn but in skipper terms they are the largest. differentiated from the small skipper by the dark pattern at the edges of the wings. They alternate between patrolling, perching, basking and feeding. seen from June to July with only one generation per year.

Habitat:

seen in the wild meadow area of Old Moor nature reserve in the Dearne valley, owned by the RSPB.
