Field Notes

Description:

Geometrid Moth (Family Geometridae) with pale gray to brown wings, less mottled than Canadian Melanolophia. Wingspan 30-35 mm.

Habitat:

Range is Nova Scotia to Florida, west to Manitoba and east Texas. This one was photographed at a porch light near a southern deciduous forest in the midlands of South Carolina.

Notes:

Hodges#6621. Per BAMONA, this is a new record for this species for Edgefield County, SC.
