Field Notes

Description:

The only tree that I know of that has three different kinds of leaves on one tree. The leaves are single lobed, double lobed, and triple lobed throughout the tree. The crushed leaves smell like fruit loops cereal.

Habitat:

Mixed forest.

Notes:

This is one of only two adult sassafras on the property, despite having literally hundreds of saplings every year.
