Field Notes

Description:

Bronze coloured, flattish cap with remnant veil nodules; 70mm across and about 120mm tall; narrow straight stem with remnant collar or ring continuous from half way to the top; dense simple gills; base was a large bulb just below ground level; growing from wet earth under a lot of woody debris.

Habitat:

In a small, wet gully in a local nature reserve.

Notes:

Amanita sp. possibly in the Validae group (thanks to TheMiesMeister)
