Field Notes

Description:

First pic is just a record shot as it flew past but the other two serve to show the difference between a Black-headed Gull (which actually has a brown hood) and Mediterranean Gulls (which have jet-black hoods of a different shape). Black-headed Gulls have Black wing-tips while Mediterranean Gulls have white wing-tips. Non-breeding/juvenile gulls do not have hoods so use the wing-tips to separate them.

Habitat:

Coastal marshes.
