Description:
Bebearia zonara, the Light Brown Forester, is a butterfly in the Nymphalidae family. It is found in Sierra Leone, Liberia, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Nigeria, Cameroon, Bioko, Gabon, the Republic of Congo, the Central African Republic, the Democratic Republic of Congo (Mayumbe, Ubangi, Mongala, Uele, Ituri, Tshopo, Equateur, Cataractes, Kasai, Sankuru and Lualaba) and Uganda (Bwamba and Toro).
Habitat:
The habitat consists of forests.
The larvae feed on Hypselodelphys species.
Notes:
Light Brown Forester playing possum in the last photo. This behaviour is very common among several other butterfly species including Acraea, and insects general when confronted by threat or predator. Apparently, it is the cheapest defense mechanism known to them.
