Field Notes

Description:

Dark gray and orange cicada. The wings are clear. The thorax has two white spots and two swoosh lines as seen in the fourth image. This one had part of its front left leg missing. It was making the very loud "singing" noise with its abdomen to attract a mate.

Habitat:

Backyard. Landed on the aviary netting and crawled on my finger. I set it on a piece of wood for some images.
