Description:

A Junco-sized bird (warbler?) with a yellowish throat and head, and black and white feathers on wings and in tail. My bird book does not show any warblers with white feathers combined with black in the tail, so I was puzzled. The suggestion below that it is an American Goldfinch in winter plumage was right on!

This section of my bird book is entitled "Confusing Fall Warblers" and I can see why.
