The common sailor (Neptis hylas)? @ Adarsha and Daniele
Yeah..link you suggested has very different images.. I will put my spotting back to normal/unidentified... Thank you :)
Adarsha, if you look at my link from the Indian Foundation for Butterflies you will see that yours is not the Studded Sergeant either. I would return it to the non-IDed list. Many butterflies in the Limenitidinae subfamily are quite similar :-)
Hi Daniele, With respect to fourth pic, i guessed it so :) I have one similar spotting...not so much good with ID's though.. http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/15869212
You're welcome Subin. I suspect this is in the genus Neptis. I haven't had time to research it but I'm sure Nuwan will get there before me :-)
Thanks for the information Daniele!! Not much of an expert here.:)
Hi Subin and Adarsha! This is not Athyma asura. Athyma asura has black dots ("studs") in the inferior lower row of white markings, visible on both dorsal and vnetal views. See here: http://www.ifoundbutterflies.org/#!/sp/724/Athyma-asura
