Killdeer (and chicks)
Charadrius vociferus

Field Notes
Description:
These are the same parents and chicks as my last killdeer spotting with the nest: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/31094033. Now the eggs have hatched. There were 3 eggs. Two of the chicks were running all around the parking lot. One, was still sitting in the nest not moving. In the first picture, you can see one of the parents and one of the chicks. The parents are a lot more protective of the babies now, and would both do the displays and at one point, one flew in front of me blocking me from one of the chicks.
A day or two after I took these, my mom went back without me and checked on them. All the chicks, including the one in the nest, were gone, and the parents too.
Habitat:
A parking lot
