Field Notes

Description:

IDd before as Telicota ancilla (Herrich-Schäffer, 1869), the Dark Palm Dart or Greenish Palm Dart, subspecies Telicota ancilla minda Evans, 1934, and basing on this image - http://www.treknature.com/gallery/Asia/India/photo51613.htm. But further research shows the pattern to be more Potanthus pava (Fruhstorfer, 1911) than Telicota.

The existing subspecies in Luzon and in the Philippines is Potanthus pava lesbia Evans, 1934. The skipper is called the Yellow Band Dart or Pava Dart.

Habitat:

Backyard garden, spotted on Yellow Alder flower.
