Field Notes

Description:

This is a small snake of approximately 12" in length. It is small in girth; it is probably a young snake.

Habitat:

Seen in dead leaves at the edge of an undeveloped area in the backyard.

Notes:

It was certainly not happy with my presence and communicated that with forceful tongue flickings and body contortions. Is it possibly a Dekay's Brownsnake?
