Field Notes

Description:

Approximately 1/2" or smaller. Body is yellow-green. Front appendages end in claws with wide "elbow" (similar to crab claw). Eyes are protuberant and circular. Antenna are medium length. Wings on the back are below a raised "shield-like" area.

Habitat:

Backyard garden. Seen on Brown-Eyed Susan flower.

Notes:

This is an odd, fascinating little creature! The face strongly reminds me of frog faces while the body makes me think of dinosaurs. I have not seen it in flight; it has pretty much stayed in one area.
