Field Notes
Description:
Cow moose with two calves in an area of mixed low scrub and coniferous trees.
Habitat:
Sub-arctic montane ecosystem.
Notes:
Spotted just off of the Park Road in Denali National Park. The cow appears stressed, malnourished--note the hip bone--however its behavior did not seem unusual. The second calf is visible in the picture, to the left just behind but cannot be discerned for what it is.
