Field Notes

Description:

Jumping, black insect with long thin antennae.

Habitat:

This one was all over the house following a sharp spell of rain that ended heat-wave conditions.

Notes:

There were house geckos nearby. I did not see the fella the next day so either it left or served as dinner to the geckoes. In Bengal these insects are called Jhi Jhi poka: an onomatopoeic term referring to the sound they make (Poka is generic Bangla term for insect)
