Margined White
Pieris marginalis marginalis
49.4472, -122.534
Field Notes
Description:
Antennae are striped and clubbed at the end. Slightly darker margin on forewing gave me the idea of Margined White but I don't even really know if these are Whites. I suppose the paler one is the female and the more yellow one is the male, but am just guessing here as the Pieris marginalia is shown as the same for male and female. Hmmm maybe something else?
Habitat:
Blackberry bushes on a dike between 2 marshes in Pitt Polder, BC. Pacific westcoast rainforest.
Notes:
Photo 2 shows the upper wing of the one butterfly, which looks quite white in comparison to the under wings in photo 1.
