Description:

Beetle about 3/4" in length. Found alive but not active under my 9 year olds' bed. Please tell me it's anything but a cockroach!!

Habitat:

Under my child's bed.

Thank you so much! I looked up Anelaphus images and they're as close to the actual specimen as my untrained eye can tell. We live in the city, so any big unusual bug is be cause for alarm (to me anyway).. I really appreciate your response Jakubko, thanks again!!
It is a beetle in the family Cerambycidae, likely the genus Anelaphus. This is not a cockroach and is a harmless and beneficial species.
