Northern Brownsnake

Congrats! This photo has been featured as a PN Fun Fact. Project Noah Fun Fact: The small, 6 - 13 in. (17-33 cm) Dekay's brownsnake, is often mistaken as a baby copperhead by people who have not learned the difference. These gentle, harmless snakes feed upon earthworms, slugs and snails, and other small invertebrates and even small salamanders. They have specialized teeth and jaws that allow them to pull snails out of their shells and eat them. They are native to North America from Southern Ontario and Quebec throughout the United States into Mexico and southward to Guatemala, Honduras.
