Field Notes

Description:

In North Carolina, these snakes are solid black as adults, although there are some that have white chins. Juveniles are gray or brown with dark reddish-brown spots running along their backs. I came home to find this one cornered in my dining area by one of my cats. Don't know how it entered the house but after getting it in the cardboard box, I let it go outside.
