Field Notes

Description:

large swallowtail, 5" wingspan

Habitat:

disturbed forest, grass, urban

Notes:

I was shocked to see this butterfly just chilling on the grass. It had its breakfast all over its face and wasn't concerned when I came in close. I spotted this while hiking on a huge, partially forested hill behind the town of Salento. It's not very wild at all but had enough vegetation and forest cover that I consistently spotted cool things the few times I hiked there.
