Species ID Suggestions

Comments (4)

Apologies, this was about a year ago before I really got into birds. Looking now, this is most definitely an Indigo Bunting. Sorry for creating confusion!
You don't need to look at range to see this isn't a Blue Grosbeak, it's definitely an Indigo Bunting. Blue Grosbeaks have large, chestnut colored wingbars that are very obvious. And this bird clearly lacks them, making it an Indigo Bunting
If you look at the range of a blue grosbeak, it would a little unusual to see it in Michigan. Though it is not impossible, I would think a more likely ID would be an Indigo Bunting. http://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Indigo_Bunting/id
