Field Notes

Description:

Family: Sphingidae, Subfamily: Macroglossinae. (Small Sphinx Moths) TL: 25-30 mm. Wingspan: 51 mm. A common clearwing moth with mostly transparent wings with jagged chestnut borders and veins. Thorax is light brown. Dark chestnut abdomen has yellowish segment at base.Hosts and adult food: Honeysuckle, snowberry, cherry and plum. Diurnal.

Habitat:

Fields, Meadows Woodlands edges, yards.
