Field Notes

Description:

This plant has silver, serrated leaves and purple flowers. The plant also has reddish spines on the stem and edges of the leaves. It grows to about 12" and starts to flower after the monsoon rains in mid to late summer.

Habitat:

Elevation 4500 ft, high desert grassland
