Field Notes

Description:

Rabbits are small, furry, mammals with long ears, short fluffy tails, and strong, large hind legs. They have 2 pairs of sharp incisors (front teeth), one pair on top and one pair on the bottom.

Habitat:

Half of the rabbit population lives in North America. They live mainly in thickets, forests, meadows, and woods. Rabbits like locations that have a moderate climate.

Notes:

From spring to fall, rabbits eat grass, clover, wild flowers, weeds, and farm and garden crops. In winter, their diet shifts to buds, twigs, bark, conifer needles, and practically any green plant.
