Field Notes

Description:

Beautiful Hummingbird with shiny green iridescent feathers. Females lack the Ruby throat the species are named for, but are just as gorgeous. She had an insect stuck to her leg, and every time she'd come back there'd be a little less insect. (I couldn't I.D it.)

Habitat:

In the backyard.

Notes:

This is the female that has been frequenting the feeders this year. She's beginning to defend the feeders from the two males in the area. It's exactly what she did last year, but now it's giving me reason to believe she's is nesting or is going to soon.
