Ilia Underwing Moth

Family: Erebidae, Subfamily: Erebinae. A common Underwing moth. WIngspan: 65-80 mm. Total length: 34-45 mm. Peppery FW is variable but mostly gray with jagged AM and PM lines bordered with darker brown bands. Median area is often paler. Reniform spot is bodly outlined white or all white. Black basal dash is usually present. HW is reddish with irregular black bands and pale orange fringe. Hosts: Oak.
