Field Notes

Description:

Found these bugs all over my tomato plants, on the actual tomatoes. They moved quickly and can fly. I thought they might be assassin bugs but never seen them with a horizontal stripe on their back as the ones in the picture have. And I was under the impression assassin bugs were flightless. Any suggestions?

Habitat:

Georgia

This is a member of the Coreidae which does resemble some Reduviidae. Reduviidae can fly as well: http://bugguide.net/node/view/166/bgpage Here is Coreidae for comparison: http://bugguide.net/node/view/93/bgpage
