Description:
This Carpet Python (Carpet Snake) was more than 10 feet long. Grey and brown markings all over body, white belly areas, head large and triangular shaped with obvious thermoreceptive labial pits. Mostly nocturnal but sometimes seen enjoying the warmth of the sun. Feeds on rodents (native and introduced), small mammals, birds, other reptiles and chickens!
Habitat:
Found throughout Australia, the six known sub species range in colour, pattern and adult size. This specimen known as the Coastal Carpet Python is found in eastern Queensland and north east NSW. This one removed from shed on property after helping itself to more than a few chicken dinners.
