Field Notes

Description:

Broad, flat leaf with long thorns on the lamina. Fruit is the size of a medium tomato with markings like green aubergine. Flowers looked (to me) like tomato flowers.

Habitat:

Roadside. Weed. Coonoor, Tamil Nadu.

Notes:

I had never seen a leaf bearing thorns (always, the stem) so I stopped to take a closer look and checked it on the Internet later. I understand the fruit is edible although I have never seen it being sold or eaten.
