Thanks for the info, I was able to come to an id by reading your comment. I am pretty sure it is narrow leaf plantain. Going to look at a few more pictures before I add the info though.

Some kind of plantain or fleawort, rgrace6. Lots of species. A website that focuses more on Alabama or the Southeast could probably show you common species in your area. Here's a general link ... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fleawort
