Field Notes

Description:

This small green bug is a Pentatomid and it looks like a late instar nymph of Nezara viridula. There were plenty of string beans growing in our vegetable plot, but this bug was more interested in some pods which had been harvested and hung out in the sunshine to dry (to provide some beans for planting next year).

Habitat:

Spotted in our backyard vegetable plot on String Beans ( Vigna unguiculata) locally known as Sitaw. Plant information from http://www.stuartxchange.org/Sitaw.html
