Field Notes

Description:

leafhoppers mating (at least I'm guessing that's what they were doing. You can see the second leafhopper better in the second picture).

Habitat:

spotted on milkweed plants in a suburban backyard.

Notes:

I had some moments of transcendent awe the first time I saw one of these insects--they are so gorgeous!

for the backyard habitats of the world mission, all I did to enhance the habitat was get my husband on board with not weed whacking the milkweed plants
:-)
