Kousa Dogwood
Cornus kousa
32.8291, -88.4767
Field Notes
Description:
Much less common than Flowering Dogwood, in fact, I've never seen one in the wild. Distinguished when in bloom from Cornus florida by the pointed bracts and protuberant, golf ball-shaped center. And, it also blooms a month to six weeks later ... give or take.
Habitat:
Small ornamental tree in a residential landscape.
