Field Notes

Description:

The male in the first picture has a solid black cap, streaking on the sides of the breast, wing bars and yellow legs. The female in the second picture is a drabber color.

Habitat:

The male just took a bath and was fluffing up his feathers and shaking the water off himself in an apple tree at Heald Orchard conservation area.
