Description:

Riptortus macleani Schaffner, 1963, family Alydidae, subfamily Alydinae, is called a Pod-sucking Bug or a Bean Bug. Its body length is about 2cm. It is brown with white-yellowish lines running along each side of its body. Its body is slim and narrower in the middle, with a sharp spine on each side of the thorax. It has strong spiny hind legs.

Alydidae Amyot & Serville, 1843, commonly known as broad-headed bugs, is a family of true bugs very similar to the closely related Coreidae (leaf-footed bugs and relatives).

Habitat:

Backyard, spotted on the pod of the Dwarf Poinciana plant, Caesalpinia pulcherrima.
