Field Notes

Description:

This specimen is approx. 4". Black all over with long antenna, huge jaws, and a spiked collar.

Habitat:

Sonoran Desert at the base of the Santa Catalina Mountains.

Notes:

This guy actually flew into our house when we had the door open to cool down. In flight this specimen was VERY loud.
