My son took this picture today 7/21 and we are not sure what type of bird this is. Killdeer?

It does look a bit like a blue jay although the picture he took was a bit grainy and I saw mostly white with some black & what looked like gray.
Not a killdeer. I was just about to say what @sjlehmann said, it does look like a blue jay, but I can't tell for sure.
It looks more like a blue jay to me, but it's hard to tell from the underside.
