Field Notes

Description:

The largest of the cherry trees. We have hundreds of these in this area, and it's my favorite wood for the fireplace because of that wonderful cherry smell. This is the only one I've ever seen with cherries on it though. I suspect that they usually grow near the top of the large trees and I just can't see them, but I'll be watching this one closely.

Habitat:

Mixed forest.
