Field Notes

Description:

Upperside of wings rich brown, edged by pale yellow/white band. Bright blue dots run along the edge of the band. Underside of wings more uniformly dark without blue markings.

Habitat:

This butterfly was seen in an urban park. It landed on the ground in a small clearing inside a wooded area, flanked by a small creek on one side and a paved pedestrian path on the other.
