Field Notes

Description:

Smaller moth. Mottled dark browns and blacks. Very furry grizzled gray head and thorax. Tufts of white "hairs" on middle pair of legs. Holds legs in an odd position at rest. Caterpillars of this species are brown and hairy with long and short "arms" (six in total when all are there). Check out my link to see pictures of the caterpillars.

Habitat:

Cedar Point County Park. Resting on the side of a building.

Notes:

First time I have seen this neat little moth!
