Field Notes

Description:

Mottled brown snake with white on the lower part of the head. This is the female.

Habitat:

Wooded rocky outcrops.

Notes:

This snake stayed in the same place for a number of hours, making it possible to get close enough for photos (but not too close!). It turned out that the reason she was staying in place was that she was about to moult.
