Field Notes

Description:

Thre plant is tall over six feet. Single stem, no branches. Flower is small and yellow with a coloured centre. Looks a lot like a small hibiscus or Okra (Ladies finger) flower. Leaves and stem are velvety to touch (soft hairy)

Habitat:

Sprouted by itself (may be bird droppings brought the seeds) in a flowerpot alongside my other potted plant in the pot and rapidly grew tall and flowered. I am a little intrigued by it.

Notes:

Perhaps also called Hairy Okra.

It looks a Malvaceae. Have a look at Pavonia cancellata https://fieldguides.fieldmuseum.org/sites/default/files/rapid-color-guides-pdfs/807_costa_rica-flora_de_miravalles_1.pdf
