Field Notes

Description:

Palest-bluish-grey upperparts of all the accipiters; chin and throat are white with grey mesial streak; breast, belly and flanks are variably covered with narrow pale rusty bars, most prominent on the breast
Females are larger than male
Photo taken at Kanha Tiger Reserve, MP-India

Habitat:

Plains and lower hills; open wooded and arable land and near villages

Notes:

It is worth familiarising oneself with this, the commonest accipiter of the region, in order to sue it as a benchmark for comparison with the other species
